Long awaited sequel to the highly successful "My Summer Car" released on early access. It was in development for quite a while now, with the fans being on high alert as the developer Amistech Games have made promises of a 2025 launch. After ups and downs, Johannes "Toplessgun" Rojola has delivered on his promise, releasing the game just 2 days before the year ended. It is hardly close to a finished product however, suffering from many bugs, of which are sometimes game breaking.
What is My Winter Car about?
If you played the first game, you can figure out what this one is about. For the uninitiated, My Winter Car is the sequel to My Summer Car, where you as the player build from scratch and maintain a car called Satsuma AMP. The car is modeled after the 1974 Datsun 100A, being 20 years old at the time period the game takes place. Your character needs to make money to survive and maintain the Satsuma in an economically troubled 1994's Finland, taking on difficult jobs, with the end goal being rebuilding the car and winning the rally race that is held every weekend. My Winter Car continues the story starting from 1999, however in a freezing winter tone. The depressing weather gets depressing-er as you learn time took it's toll on the characters you grew to love in the first game, but i will not talk about that further here. The player character has traded his Datsun for a reliable Talbot, and the player must buy and rebuild a Ford Taunus to win the rally, now with the challenge of keeping track of his body temperature.
Is My Winter Car worth playing?
Totally. Do remember however, early access means an incomplete game. Don't be expecting a masterpiece yet. Playing the game in this stage means you are willing to be part of the bugfixing.
